Winter Road Trip

We were going to go to PA for the weekend but there was bad weather over to the east. I really wanted to get away and since Seth had off school and the dog was already booked for the kennels we looked for somewhere else to go. We came up with a winner. We left Friday late afternoon and headed for Springfield. I have wanted to go to see the Abraham Lincoln Library and Museum. We had reserved a room in a hotel that was historic and cool.

It was across the street from the capitol building so in the morning we walked over and took a tour.

Then we went over to the museum. We agreed it was the best museum ever. We were so impressed! The entire Civil War in 4 minutes, the presentations of Through Lincoln's Eyes and Ghosts of the Library were outstanding.

After that we went to see Lincoln's tomb where we rubbed the nose.

We left Springfield and drove over to St Louis and the boys swam at our hotel and we had dinner. In the morning we had tickets to go to the top of the Arch in one of those tiny little pods.

There was a museum there also and Seth earned his Jefferson National Expansion Memorial Jr Ranger Badge. We saw a movie on a 40' screen about Lewis and Clark that was both beautiful and informative.

Our heads were beginning to fill full of facts so we left for home and as planned we travelled a bit on old route 66 stopping for dinner at one of the oldest restaurants
on the route- oh my, the desserts!

And a good time was had by all!!

This looks like such a great trip!! I have to admit, I wish you were here but that is okay. That just means you haven't been here yet :-)

Love you guys! Wish I could have learned all that stuff with you.
