Starved Rock

About an hour or so from our home is Starved Rock. We spent a weekend there with some friends and we hiked some of the most interesting trails we have ever been on. Overlooks, bridges, steps, forests, sand, caves, sandstone canyons, waterfalls, river, pools- just beautiful!

We learned some Indian tales of a battle and a lover's leap.

It wasn't all hiking- we stayed at a resort (Grizzly Jack's Grand Bear Lodge) with an indoor water park and an indoor amusement park. There were fireworks on Sat night and after we checked out we went to the other side of the river and watched a barge go through the locks, which was very cool. Seth loved playing captain in a pilot house and looking through a telescope at the other side of the river where we had hiked.

And a good time was had by all.
